The Emulation Realm

Releases for Windows operating systems.

XM6 Pro-68k

What's New:

- Historically, XM6 has underclocked its CPU by 2-3% without any documented explanation. The clock rates have been increased to match their nominal values. This is only likely to improve compatibility, but if you suspect a regression,
you can compare it with the MBCS edition, which still has the underclocking.
- The only exception to the above is that the old underclocked value for the 17.4 MHz setting has been retained, because it was actually pretty close to the (unconfirmed) actual speed of the XVI model (16.67 MHz).
- You can now redirect quick screen dumps to the clipboard by holding Shift.
- Memory windows now have a Copy submenu with numerous choices.
- Alt-N (formerly an alternate for Alt-F11) now hides/unhides processor windows. It will still open the processor windows initially, but the only remaining accelerator that can close them is Alt-F11. The distinction is slight.
- The RAM Insert command also loads/relocates executables (.X and .Z) now. For relocatable executables, you may specify a full 32-bit address to be used in the relocation process. Certain information is also logged.
- As an optimization, state file operations no longer request file modification times from the file system because that feature was never actually used.

Bug fixes
- The Wait Cursor was not being displayed (as is customary) during potentially time-consuming operations done in conjunction with recently added features.

What's New:

- Miscellaneous improvements and bug fixes.

What's New:

- The development environment of Ootake has been changed from "Visual Studio 2019" to "Visual Studio 2022". Along with this, even if you build(compile) with "Optimization ON", it will no longer be falsely detected by some antivirus software, so build with "Optimization ON" for public files (Ootake.exe) is now done from this version. I think that there are more PCs that can operate comfortably without processing omissions even on older PCs than the version released with "Optimization OFF".
- The volume balance of the ADPCM sound source has been brought closer to that of the actual device.
- When playing "TATSUJIN" in the overscan area display ([F12] key) environment, the dust display at the top and bottom of the screen (it also exists with the actual machine) has been suppressed. The PC Engine version of "TATSUJIN" has a narrow screen, but the enemy bullets are fast, so I feel that it is too difficult for people to enjoy it unless the overscan area is displayed. In addition, if you select the difficulty level EASY with the trick of "RUN while pressing SELECT on the title screen", I think that those who like the great transplant "Kyukyoku Tiger" and "Super Raiden" will probably enjoy it just right. If you check the "CPU-> Perform Sprite Limit" menu, it will be reproduced in the same way as the actual machine (garbage will be displayed when restarting after being killed).
- The processing related to raster interrupts has been brought closer to the operation of the actual machine. The problem that the drawing on the screen was disturbed in the demo scene of "Sol Moonarge" (occurred from v2.81. It was not fixed in v3.03) has been solved.
- Fixed a bug (occurred from v2.96) that sometimes "a very old version state save file" could not be read correctly.
- Fixed a bug that the game screen sometimes went black when the resume was restored when the stretch screen mode was changed when using the resume save ("File-> Set Resume" menu).
- Other small parts have been corrected and improved.

Google Translate:

Emulator changes
- Added BK-0010Sh configuration. It is named so because it uses the 084 focal ROM, there are no IRPS / KLS blocks, because it does not work. Otherwise, it is no different from the BK-0010-01 + MSTD configuration.
- Made minor changes in appearance. Now visual design themes are applied more widely.

BKDE changes
- Added support for the KNGMD Optok file system format.
- Miscellaneous little things that only WinXP users can see. It turns out that not everything worked as it should.

The BKDL utility has also been updated to recognize Optok as well.

What's New:

- Extend Uthernet II to support DNS offloading.
  * Details:
  * No need for ethernet, so now works with host PC's WiFi.
  * Supported by @oliverschmidt's A2Stream v1.2.
  * NB. This virtual DNS is enable by default (but can be disabled via the Config UI).
  * NB. Real W5100 chips don't offer this!
- WOZ support: Better LSS support for reading write-protect.
  * Fix images 'Run For It' and 'Stickybear Town Builder' (both when write-protected).
- Uthernet II fixes for UDP and IPRAW modes.
- Internal: refactor debugger.
- Fix Phasor card: use correct primary AY8913 for Phasor-native & MB modes (now checked in mb-audit v1.2).
- Command line: add -wav-speaker & -wav-mockingboard
  * Save a .wav of either Speaker or Mockingboard audio output during the emulation session.
  * Warning: there's no file size limit, so it just keeps saving until AppleWin exits.
