Sorry folks, but I am once again working "2" full time jobs.
I'm getting old and not much energy after working 19 hour days.
updates may be sporadic for awhile.
Edit: starting to adapt to the no sleep thing.
hopefully I will have the energy to do some updating again Thursday morning.
What's New:
- GX based scaler (smoother scrolling in Plutos, Xevious, Motor Psycho)
- Ability to adjust screen size to any size/dimensions via the "Screen Size" option under "Display". If this is entered after loading a cartridge, the last frame will be displayed to assist in sizing.
- Fixed graphical glitches in Ballblazer
- Implemented RANDOM (read) and SKCTLS (write) for Pokey sound emulation
- Ballblazer now plays all sounds
- Minor refactor of Pokey code
- Some minor adjustments to the Light Gun related code
- Updated palette (from Underball)
- Updated menu code, GX rendering of dip switches and debug information
- Ability to set HBLANK period, Dual-analog support in ProSystem database
What's New:
- The setting of "+5,+10,+20 and +30" was added to "Screen->Brightness" menu. It is possible to adjust it according to the favor and the display environment. * The melody falls in some environments when lightening it too much. And it becomes easy to become tired when the game is played.
- The image quality of the screen size "Special Scanlined" at "X4" has been improved.
- When "Gradius II" is started, the stereo setting start is done by the automatic operation. If the check on "Setting->CPU->Auto Improve Grapics & Sound (Gradius II)" menu is removed, or if soft reset (SELECT+RUN button) is done after it starts, it becomes a normal start (flicker mode & monaural setting).
- In "Bonanza Bros." and the visual scene of "Black Hole Assault", the overlapping processing of the character was done as well as a real machine.
- The speed and timing were brought close to the movement of a real machine. In "IQ PANIC", the problem that fell into disorder the screen and had been freezed when having entered the hut was solved. In the opening demo of "Farjius no Jakoutei", the problem that the screen occasionally fell into disorder was solved.
- When "Jantei Monogatari" is started, a part of CD-ROM access processing becomes slowness near a real machine. The problem that the display occasionally fell into disorder at the technique selection screen was solved.
- When "Vasteel" is started, a part of CD-ROM access processing becomes slowness near a real machine. The voice problem of the visual scene was solved.
- In "Yami no Ketsuzoku Harukanaru Kioku", if non-stretched screen mode setting is used, the switch is temporarily divided into the real stretched screen mode.
- "Invalidate CD Install" was added to "CPU" menu. This is compulsorily operated with "Real CD-ROM". "CD Installed" file ( "CD-ROM->CD (Full)Install" menu) is not used. (for operation test)
What's New:
* CGA mode is forced to be blitted even if you have selected Direct mode. I believe the blitted mode is fast enough for all CGA games, and removing the direct mode made the code smaller and simpler, and there is no danger of the game stopping because of an unsupported CGA graphics opcode any more.
* TEXT mode is now also using a blitted screen copy method with a dirty buffer, so it is reasonably fast, and it too supports now all possible opcodes to access the display RAM.
* About a dozen new EGA opcodes added.
* About a dozen new DOS interrupts are supported, including some DOS internal functions that are needed by software like Norton Sysinfo, and old FCB file functions that are needed by very old games like Ultima 3.
* Fixed bugs in "!" key, DOS memory resize function, division opcode, and 0xE000 segment memory access when not mapped to an EMS page.
What's New:
• Supported DOSBox versions are still 0.65 up to 0.73
• Because of the compiler used to create Dapplegrey, its minimum system requirement meets the Mac OS X 10.4 operating system.
• If a game is stored on different path than given in preferences (Base drive c: path), Dapplegrey no longer tells DOSBox to mount this base drive c: path in second place, while game's drive c: path already has been mounted.
• The internal mount method used by Dapplegrey to imgmount stuff in DOSBox also mounts CD images correctly now, if their extension names are longer than 3 chars ('S2.toast' seen by DOSBox as 'S2~1.TOA'. Length of extension name doesn't matter in this case, but if extension name is longer than 3 chars, DOSBox sees it as 'S2~1.TOA' instead of simply 'S2.TOA'). Future versions of Dapplegrey may offer imgmounting full Mac path as option, which would be more compatible than trying to truncate the disk images filenames to match the DOS 8.3 naming conventions before imgmounting the disk image.
• Usually, Dapplegrey now tries to snip the Path to the imgmounted disk images, if user's name is within ('Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/username/documents/diskimages/s2.cdr'), the path will be snipped to '~/documents/diskimages/s2.cdr' now. In DOSBox, the shorter the path to be mounted, the better. Unfortunately, shorting doesn't work if the user adds a folder to imgmount its content. For disk images to be mounted, if a folder has been added instead of particular files, Dapplegrey tries to mount all disk images of that folder that match the disk drive type selected (floppy, hard disk, CD-ROM), independent of their name. For single disk images, Dapplegrey's new internal snipping method works fine.
• Dapplegrey is now disabling some stuff regarding to toolbox entries: Network settings and imgmount stuff has been disabled in order to simplify bugfixing some stuff. For some reasons, reading games list regarding toolbox entries mixed up some settings.
• If the user enables an additional drive in the toolbox entries, Dapplegrey remembers it now correct. For example, main reason to enable a drive C: to the 'Mah Jongg V-G-A' game by Ron Balewski included in the Dapplegrey toolbox is to enable the option to save a game.
